Vice President Kamala Harris is anticipated to announce her running mate on Tuesday as she embarks on a tour of battleground states alongside her selection.
On Tuesday, Harris will be in Philadelphia for a rally at 5:30 p.m. The identity of her running mate remains undisclosed as of Tuesday morning.
It is expected that Harris will reveal her choice for vice president through a video announcement, likely before the rally.
This rally follows her official confirmation as the party’s nominee after a period of virtual voting by delegates.
Three potential candidates have emerged as her probable running mate: Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, and Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota.
The tour of battleground states is also set to include stops in Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada. Of these seven states, six were narrowly won by President Joe Biden in 2020.

Biden secured victory in Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia by margins of less than 3%. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump won North Carolina by a 1.4% margin.
Over the weekend, Harris conducted interviews with each of the three potential vice presidential candidates.
Given that Shapiro hails from the swing state with the most electoral votes at stake, he could provide a significant advantage for Harris. Despite only being in office since early last year, Shapiro is highly popular as the record-breaking gubernatorial vote-getter in Pennsylvania’s history, having won the 2022 election by 15 percentage points.
Kelly, a former astronaut, has represented Arizona in the Senate since assuming Sen. John McCain’s seat in 2020. With strong ties to the military, Kelly has a background as a combat pilot in the U.S. Navy and is married to former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords.
Another contender, Walz, brings deep Midwestern roots and a strong political background to the table. Elected governor of Minnesota in 2019, Walz successfully navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of the George Floyd tragedy.
On Tuesday, as Harris hits the campaign trail, she will be followed by Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance, who is hosting an event in Philadelphia on the same day.
