Following the separation from Mayim Bialik in December of last year, Jeopardy! has officially scrubbed the former host from its website, wiping out any mentions of the Big Bang Theory star from the show’s history.
As reported by The U.S. Sun, the official Jeopardy! website has removed photos of Bialik from its About The Show page, and her bio page is no longer visible. Just last Friday (August 2), Bialik’s presence could still be found on the website.
In 2022, Bialik was chosen as one of the new hosts of the long-standing game show alongside former contestant Ken Jennings. Their casting followed a lengthy search for a new host following the passing of Alex Trebek and the controversy surrounding producer Mike Richards.
Initially, Bialik and Jennings shared hosting duties for the regular syndicated version of Jeopardy!, with Bialik also hosting Celebrity Jeopardy! and other spin-offs. However, in December 2023, Bialik revealed that she had been let go from the show, with Jennings named as the sole host moving forward.
Bialik’s departure came after she had withdrawn from hosting in support of the writers’ strike the previous summer, during which Jennings filled in for her. After the strike ended, Bialik announced on Instagram that she had been removed from the show.
“Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!” Bilaik said at the time. “I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family. For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz Show, thank you.”
During the 2024 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour, Jeopardy!‘s executive producer Michael Davies explained that the show was “forced” into the multi-host situation due to previous events during the guest-hosting period.
“Mayim was left hosting the primetime versions, and I brought in Ken to guest-host because Mayim had her Fox sitcom [Call Me Kat],” he clarified.
However, Davies stated that the decision to let go of Bialik was not related to the writer’s strike but was based on feedback received.
“Over the past 2-1/2 seasons, what we’ve heard a lot from our television stations and other interested parties is they were looking for more consistency, they wanted a single host,” he explained, adding, “Ken really won the job.”
Despite this, Davies mentioned that there was still a possibility of collaborating with Bialik in the future, praising her as “a superb host” and discussing potential involvement in other spinoffs and primetime versions.
However, it seems that the show has now moved on from Bialik entirely. Not only has she been removed from the website, but the recently renewed Celebrity Jeopardy! did not announce a host, and the upcoming Pop Culture Jeopardy! will be hosted by Saturday Night Live‘s Colin Jost.
