Butte police responded to a minor disturbance at the jail on Tuesday afternoon when some inmates refused to return to their cells.
Sheriff Ed Lester of Butte stated that fewer than ten inmates in one block of the jail stayed in a day room after complaining about the food.
After the inmates disregarded orders to go back to their cells, corrections officers contacted the police. However, within 10 minutes, the inmates voluntarily returned to their cells without the need for physical force.
Lester mentioned that overcrowding in the jail, as recently reported by MTN, can lead to incidents like this.
