Donald Trump conducted a press conference from his Mar-a-Lago estate in South Florida on Thursday, following Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz returning to the campaign trail.
This is part of Trump’s strategy to regain attention after Harris became the Democratic nominee, according to Meridith McGraw.
McGraw, the author of “Trump in Exile,” explores the period after Trump left office and was less active on social media, detailing how it has influenced his current position as the GOP front runner as he strives for a second term in the White House.

“The Trump campaign is confident in their position in this race,” McGraw stated. “While they have been leading in many polls and battleground states against President Joe Biden, the dynamics changed with Harris entering the race and the announcement of [Tim] Walz. The Trump campaign acknowledges the opportunity with undecided voters on the Democratic ticket.”
McGraw, drawing from her experience as a national correspondent at Politico, highlighted Trump’s phone calls to political allies for fundraising and unwinding through golfing.

“He frequently seeks opinions and thoughts over the phone,” McGraw revealed. “I discovered that Trump emphasized the importance of revenge, getting even, and playing golf in his comeback strategy, which he continues to implement as he campaigns for president.”
Scripps News reported Trump’s reduced rally count this year compared to his last election campaign in 2016.
McGraw expressed uncertainty regarding how the attempted assassination incident against Trump may impact his current campaign approach.
