A baby formula product has been recalled from H-E-B and CVS stores in 12 states due to excessive levels of vitamin D, posing health risks for vulnerable infants.
Perrigo Company voluntarily recalled three lots of its Premium Infant Formula with Iron Milk-Based Powder, totaling 16,500 cans, after discovering elevated levels of vitamin D. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration posted a notice about the recall.
The affected product was distributed to H-E-B stores in Texas starting Feb. 2 and CVS stores in various states starting Feb. 6. H-E-B’s recalled formula has lot codes T11LMXC (use-by date: Nov. 11, 2025) and T09LMXC (use-by date: Nov. 9, 2025), while CVS’ recalled formula has lot code T11LMXC (use-by date: Nov. 11, 2025). Perrigo has instructed both stores to remove the product from their shelves and warehouses.
Routine testing revealed elevated levels of vitamin D in the Premium Infant Formula, exceeding the allowed limit. Although no adverse events have been reported yet, the FDA advises caution, especially for physiologically vulnerable infants with impaired renal function.
