Stephon Gilmore, a two-time All-Pro cornerback, is set to visit the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. In a statement to NFL reporter Josina Anderson, Gilmore mentioned that he will be heading to Minneapolis in hopes of securing a position for the upcoming 2024 NFL season. Turning 34 on Sept. 19, Gilmore had an impressive performance last season with the Dallas Cowboys, recording 68 tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble while starting all 17 games. With a career spanning 165 games (158 starts) across various teams such as the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, and Cowboys, Gilmore has accumulated 561 tackles, 31 interceptions, seven forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. Notably, he was named the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year and was part of the Super Bowl LIII-winning New England Patriots. The Vikings are seeking additional support in their secondary following Mekhi Blackmon’s torn ACL during training camp last month. Blackmon was expected to play a key role as the Vikings’ third cornerback this year after the tragic passing of rookie Khyree Jackson in a car accident on July 6. –Field Level Media
