BOISE, Idaho — The Billings Mustangs scored at least one run in every inning from the fourth through the seventh in an 8-3 Pioneer Baseball League victory over the Boise Hawks on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.
The victory snapped a five-game losing streak for the Mustangs, who improved to 9-13 in the second half of the season. Boise’s eight-game winning streak also came to an end. Boise (18-4) is in first place in the second-half standings, nine-games ahead of the ninth-place Mustangs.
The Ponies pushed across one run in the fourth, three in the fifth, three in the sixth, and one in the seventh. Boise scored once in the bottom of the first and added two more runs in the fifth.

It was the second straight night that both Connor Denning and Gabe Wurtz homered for the Mustangs. Wurtz hit a solo homer in the fourth to tie the game at 1-1 and Denning blasted a two-run shot in the fifth for a 4-1 advantage.
Dylan Leach, Evan Blum, and Blake Evans doubled for the Mustangs, and Brendan Ryan added a triple.
Billings starting pitcher Ethan Ross (1-1) earned the win behind five innings pitched. He allowed six hits and three runs (all earned) and walked two batters. Ross struck out one.
The teams were playing two seven-inning games on Saturday after their game on Thursday was postponed due to poor air quality in Boise. The second game of the twin bill wasn’t over at press time.
