If you wish to watch all episodes of The Simpsons, a subscription to Disney+ is required.
During its D23 event, Disney revealed that the streaming service will exclusively feature never-before-seen episodes of The Simpsons, as reported by TVLine.
One of these exclusive episodes is a double-length Christmas-themed special titled “O C’Mon All Ye Faithful,” scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, December 17, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the first full-length episode of The Simpsons in 1989, titled “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire.”
Additionally, Disney announced that two more episodes, “The Past and the Furious” and “Yellow Planet,” will be released on Disney+ in the coming months.
In October, Disney+ will also release a Halloween-themed short featuring the Simpson family.
The Simpsons, which usually airs new episodes on Fox, has previously created streaming-exclusive shorts for Disney+. However, “O C’Mon All Ye Faithful,” “The Past and the Furious,” and “Yellow Planet” mark the first full-length episodes to debut on Disney+ instead of traditional broadcast TV.
At the D23 event, The Simpsons executive producers Matt Groening, Matt Selman, and Al Jean, along with co-executive producers Mike Price and Brian Kelley, consulting producer David Silverman, and voice actor Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson) announced the news.
They also revealed that The Simpsons’ 18-episode 35th season will be added to the Disney+ library on Wednesday, October 2, as reported by Variety.
Season 36 will premiere on Fox on Sunday, September 29, at 8/7c with a Bart-focused episode that promises to have a significant impact on the characters in Springfield, according to TVLine.
Another highlight of the new season is the annual “Treehouse of Horror” episode featuring three segments where giant monsters, ghosts of Mr. Burns’ workers, and extraterrestrial jeans play key roles.
