Five-time Olympic medalist Tom Daley announced his retirement from diving on Monday.
Daley revealed his decision to end his career in an interview with British Vogue magazine.
The 30-year-old British diver has participated in five Olympic Games, starting with Beijing 2008 and winning gold and bronze in Tokyo, silver in Paris, and bronzes at London 2012 and Rio 2016.
After securing his fifth Olympic medal in the 10m synchronized event in Paris last month, Daley expressed his feelings in the interview, saying: “It feels very surreal. I was extremely nervous knowing it was my final Olympics.”

“There was a lot of pressure and expectations. I was ready for it to be over. However, when I saw my husband (Lance), kids (Robbie and Phoenix), friends, and family in the audience, I realized that this is exactly why I do this. It was emotional standing on the platform, knowing it was my final competitive dive.
“But at some point, a decision has to be made, and it feels like now is the right time. It’s time to retire.”
In Tokyo 2021, Daley secured gold in the 10m synchronized event with Matty Lee. He returned to defend his title in Paris after deciding to come back to the sport upon his son Robbie’s encouragement.
In Paris, Daley won silver alongside Noah Williams, with China taking the gold.
