Former Las Vegas Aces forward Dearica Hamby has officially filed a lawsuit against the Aces and the WNBA, alleging discrimination, intimidation, and retaliation after revealing her pregnancy.
Hamby was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks in January 2023, and she noticed changes in how the team treated her after announcing her pregnancy.
The lawsuit claims that Hamby was made to leave team-provided housing and that the Aces did not fulfill their promise to cover her daughter’s private school tuition.

Hamby also accuses Aces head coach Becky Hammon of bullying her and questioning her commitment to the team.
The lawsuit recounts a phone conversation between Hamby and Hammon where Hamby asked, “You’re trading me because I’m pregnant?”
Hammon reportedly responded, “What do you want me to do?” without denying the accusation.
Following an investigation, Hammon was suspended for two games and the Aces lost their 2025 first-round draft pick.

Hamby’s attorney argues that the Aces unfairly treated her client due to her pregnancy, violating federal workplace discrimination laws.
In May 2023, coach Hammon refuted Hamby’s allegations and presented her perspective on the matter.
