Tensions between Iran and Israel are on the rise after the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
Iran has rejected calls from European countries to avoid retaliation, placing the blame on Israel for Haniyeh’s death. Additionally, Iran has announced that it will not participate in renewed ceasefire discussions between Hamas and Israel.
According to White House officials, there is a high likelihood that Iran will launch an attack against Israel this week.
Israel has various defense systems in place to protect against different types of missile threats. The Iron Dome system is used to intercept short-range rockets with a success rate of around 90%. For medium to long-range missiles, Israel utilizes the David’s Sling system, developed in collaboration with the U.S. Israel also employs the Arrow system to defend against longer-range missiles that enter the Earth’s atmosphere.
In the event of a large-scale Iranian attack, Israel would receive assistance from the U.S. to counter drones and missiles. However, there is a concern that a massive attack could overwhelm the defense systems, resulting in casualties and potentially sparking a wider conflict.
