MISSOULA — The Montana football team has strengthened its depth at tight end compared to last year, with returning players and newcomers bolstering the position.
Cole Grossman, an All-American who missed the 2023 season due to surgery, is back alongside Evan Shafer and Erik Barker, forming a trio of experienced seniors.
Shafer highlighted the versatility required at the tight end position in their offense, emphasizing the different roles they play on the field.
The tight ends at Montana were not heavily utilized in the passing game last season, but head coach Bobby Hauck values their contributions in blocking and the run game.
Grossman’s return and the performance of the tight ends in fall camp have Hauck feeling optimistic about their potential impact on the team’s offense.
Shafer praised Grossman’s skills as a receiver and emphasized the unpredictability they bring to opposing defenses.
