Minnesota Governor and Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz has agreed to participate in a debate with his counterpart JD Vance, which will be aired on CBS News.
Walz announced on X extending an invitation to Vance.
“Harris for President has accepted CBS’ invitation to a Vice Presidential Candidate Debate on October 1,” the campaign stated. “Governor Walz is ready to debate JD Vance – assuming he shows up.”
Vance and Donald Trump’s campaign have not responded to the invitation yet.
CBS News had suggested four dates for the debate: September 17, September 24, October 1, and October 8. The initial invitation for the VP debate was extended earlier in the year, but plans were delayed after Trump’s campaign expressed a desire to wait until after the Democratic National Convention starting on August 19.
