Vice President Kamala Harris has been working hard to build a network of donors and volunteers, pick a running mate, clarify policy stances, and present a clear vision for her administration in just a few weeks, a task that usually takes months for most campaigns.
She will have the opportunity to showcase her vision at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week. Representative Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., mentioned that Harris has been actively communicating her vision for America to voters.
During the DNC, other prominent party leaders, both present and past, will also be featured. President Joe Biden, former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, as well as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, are expected to speak.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson highlighted the support from the political establishment as a demonstration of unity, contrasting it with the recent Republican National Convention.
The Democrats are embracing new technology and social media for the convention, streaming content on various platforms and involving over 200 “content creators” to reach a wider and younger audience.
Underwood emphasized the importance of young voters in this election and is scheduled to speak at the DNC, focusing on the healthcare achievements of the Biden-Harris administration.
The convention will feature traditional moments, including a ceremonial roll call vote and acceptance speeches from Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz and Vice President Kamala Harris.
