According to ESPN, Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle D’Ante Smith sustained a patella tendon injury on Thursday and is expected to miss the rest of the season. Smith was taken off the field on a cart after getting hurt during Cincinnati’s joint practice with the Chicago Bears. Just moments before Smith’s injury, Bengals running back Chris Evans also tore his patella tendon and will be out for the season. Smith, aged 26, has played in three regular season games, with one start, for Cincinnati since being drafted from East Carolina in the fourth round of the 2021 draft. Although he was active for eight games last season, he didn’t get any playing time. Smith’s last appearance for the Bengals was in the 2023 AFC Championship Game. The Bengals’ offensive line depth was further strained when rookie first-rounder Amarius Mims strained his pectoral muscle, causing him to be sidelined for several weeks. Cincinnati will face the Bears in Chicago in their upcoming preseason game on Saturday. – Field Level Media
