BILLINGS — This Friday, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson headlined a rally at the Billings airport alongside other Republicans.
Less than 90 days until the election, Montana Republicans are ramping up their efforts with the help of big names like Johnson. Rep. Ryan Zinke has brought in three representatives, including Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise, in the past week.
“It’s crucial for us to be present in Montana because our state can make a significant impact in this election. Having strong leadership here is beneficial,” Zinke remarked.
Various Montana officials, including Gov. Greg Gianforte and state Auditor Troy Downing, made appearances at the rally before heading to a private fundraiser.
The speeches resonated with the partisan crowd, receiving positive feedback.
Randy Nelson, a rally attendee and Hardin resident, expressed his support, stating, “I trust a veteran over a regular politician. If the government operated more like a business, we wouldn’t be in such a dire state.”
Democrat Ryan Busse, challenging Gianforte, criticized bringing Johnson to Montana, stating, “Montanans are tired of divisive national politics. Why bring in the Speaker of the House from Louisiana?”
Attendees at the rally have likely made up their minds on their voting choices as the election draws near. “We’re feeling strong,” added Charlene Nelson.
