MONTANA – Today, many areas experienced Friday in the sunshine – while others, like Kalispell and areas of Glacier National Park, had some isolated thunderstorms rolling through. Tonight, there is a 20% chance of showers in western Montana as heavier rain is set to develop overnight tonight in central regions of the state.
Our radar calls for a larger system of severe thunderstorms to develop tonight, moving from Bozeman to central Montana between 9 & 10 pm. As this system of severe storms drives through central Montana in the Lewistown, Roundup areas, is spreads into the eastern plains for the early hours of tomorrow morning.
As this system moves across eastern Montana, winds are projected to pick up with gusts potentially reaching 35 mph. After these showers have passed, tomorrow’s radar calls for a lot of sun. We can anticipate warm highs in the 80’s and 90’s state-wide during the day tomorrow, after lows tonight dip into the 40’s and 50’s.
Sunday’s conditions are forecasted to match Saturday’s with a quiet radar. There is a slight chance for isolated storms to return on Sunday night/ Monday morning in central Montana between Great falls and Lewistown.
Over the next 7 days, we can expect temperatures to remain fairly stable – with potential daytime highs to reach the low 90’s for two or three days this week. A chance of showers is possible in southwestern Montana Monday, but the week is forecasted to be mostly dry.
The 8-14 days beyond this are projected to see warmer than normal highs and at-average moisture – bringing us into the final days of August.
