MISSOULA — Sean Ramsbacher of Missoula showcased his exceptional golf skills during the Montana State Mid-Amateur tournament on Saturday.
Despite trailing by a stroke before the final day, Ramsbacher, a Sentinel graduate and former Montana Tech standout, delivered an outstanding performance with a 7-under par score of 65 at The Ranch Club. With this stellar round, he secured a four-stroke victory over Nicholas Balcken from Helena.
Ramsbacher expressed his excitement about winning his first state event with a total score of 73-71-65-209. He emphasized the quality of the field, making this victory one of the highlights of his career.
The tournament featured 94 participants, with Balcken and Blake Nevell leading the pack heading into the final day. Ramsbacher’s remarkable performance on Saturday included seven birdies, an eagle on the 17th hole, and only two bogeys.
Reflecting on his win, Ramsbacher credited his father, Ron Ramsbacher, for his support as a caddie. He highlighted the mental aspects of the game and the importance of having a trusted advisor on the course.
