BILLINGS — Strong to severe storms have been developing on Monday afternoon and evening. The main concern with these storms is the strong winds, but hail and heavy rain are also possible threats.
Expect severe to strong storms to continue over the next few afternoons and evenings. Thursday will be relatively calm, but by Friday, there will be concerns about fire weather.
Overnight temperatures will range from the 50s to 60s across eastern Montana and northern Wyoming into early Tuesday. Afternoon temperatures will rise back up into the upper 80s and 90s, making it one of the warmer days in the near future.
More storms are expected to develop, especially to the north and east of Billings, on Tuesday afternoon and evening. The somewhat active weather will persist on Wednesday, despite slightly cooler temperatures overall.
Thursday’s highs will mainly be in the 80s with sunshine and calm weather. Friday will warm up again into the upper 80s and 90s, but with the threat of gusty winds and low humidity, increasing the risk of wildfires.
While there are indications of cooler temperatures by Sunday and Monday, the extent of the cool down is still uncertain. A few isolated storms and showers may accompany the cooler weather.
