WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) — The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees were like kids again as they mingled with Little Leaguers ahead of the Major League Baseball Little League Classic on Sunday night. Aaron Judge heard steady cries of “Judge!” from kids who flocked to the Yankees slugger from the moment he stepped off the team plane to his appearance at the Little League World Series. Jazz Chisholm Jr. tossed souvenirs to pleading kids and captured the commotion on an old-school handheld video camera. Wearing his Yankees uniform top, Giancarlo Stanton showed Little Leaguers a proper grip of a baseball on a bus ride. It was hard to tell who had more fun.

“Alien: Romulus,” the latest installment in the 45-year-old franchise, opened in first place at the North American box office. The 20th Century Studios release earned an estimated $41.5 million in its first weekend, where it was playing in 3,885 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Including international showings in 49 markets, “Alien: Romulus” boasted a $108.2 million global debut. CALI, Colombia (AP) — Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have wrapped up their visit to Colombia by participating in a forum on the challenges facing women of African descent as they participate in politics. The couple also met on Sunday with young people as part of a traditional music festival in the Pacific coast city of Cali. The tour of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex began Thursday at the invitation of Vice President Francia Márquez, Colombia’s first Black vice president. The visit has been defined by cultural and social causes, in line with the couple’s support of the Archewell Foundation, a nonprofit organization.
‘Banksy woz ere.’ London Zoo is the latest to remove street artist’s animal mural for protection
LONDON (AP) — The London Zoo has removed Banksy’s gorilla mural from its entrance gate. The painting was the final animal-themed work by the street artist that appeared over nine consecutive days in London. It is now at least the fifth of those works to be either stolen, defaced or moved to a secure place for protection. The zoo says it removed the work from public display Friday evening and has not confirmed what it will do with it in the future. It was covered with a reproduction of the work and a sign in British slang saying, “Banksy woz ere.”
French actor and heartthrob Alain Delon dies at 88
PARIS (AP) — Alain Delon, the internationally acclaimed French actor who embodied both the bad guy and the policeman and made hearts throb around the world, has died at age 88, French media reported. With his handsome looks and tender manner, the prolific actor was able to combine toughness with an appealing, vulnerable quality that made him one of France’s memorable leading men. His children announced the death on Sunday in a statement to the French national news agency Agence France-Presse, a common practice in France. Tributes to Delon immediately started pouring in on social platforms, and all leading French media switched to full-fledged coverage of his rich career.

PERTH, Australia (AP) — South African Dricus du Plessis took a flurry of body hits across four rounds before defeating Israel Adesanya by submission to retain his middleweight championship at UFC 305. After scoring some early takedowns, du Plessis (22-2) had to withstand a flurry of body strikes from Adesanya through the middle rounds which appeared to be taking a toll on the 30-year-old South African as the fight progressed. But a left hook followed by three rights helped bring Adesanya down in the fourth round which gave du Plessis the opening he wanted as he swiftly got the choke hold which forced the Nigerian-born New Zealander to tap out.
At least 23 injured when fire breaks out on a Ferris wheel in eastern Germany
BERLIN (AP) — Two gondolas on a Ferris wheel caught fire at a music festival near Leipzig in eastern Germany, injuring at least 23 people. News agency dpa reported Sunday that the fire started on one gondola and then spread to a second one on Saturday night. Four people suffered burn injuries and one suffered injuries from a fall. The others, including first responders and at least four police officers, were examined in the hospital for possible smoke inhalation. The accident took place at the Highfield Festival at Stoermthaler Lake near Leipzig. On Sunday morning, police were still investigating what caused the fire. They were not able to provide any concrete information about the condition of those injured or the exact number of casualties.

Keith Urban plays free pop-up concert outside a Buc-ee’s store in Alabama

Hundreds of people turned out for the show Friday night in Athens, about 100 miles south of Nashville. It was outside a Buc-ee’s, a chain of roadside stores known for barbecue. Urban says he was at the store about a month ago and thought it would be fun to do a show there. A video showed Urban working behind the store’s food counter, pouring barbecue sauce on brisket.
