If you enjoy gardening and being outdoors, the National Center for Appropriate Technology is looking for volunteers to assist at its farm, which is dedicated to sustainable agriculture and improving growing practices in harsh climates like Butte.
Located at 3040 Continental Drive, the facility hosts volunteer events on evenings and weekends, as well as regularly scheduled volunteers Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All produce grown is donated, mostly to the Butte Emergency Food Bank. NCAT’s farm has two greenhouses and four high tunnels, laying hens, a composting system, and outdoor vegetable and flower beds.
Volunteers will assist with:
- Planting and Harvesting: Get hands-on experience with our crops and learn about seasonal planting and harvesting techniques.
- Farm Maintenance: Assist with maintaining farm infrastructure, including building, repairing, cleaning, weed management, and compost turning.
- Special Projects: Participate in unique projects that support our mission and enhance our farm operations.
