South Carolina’s starting quarterback for the 2024 season opener has been announced as LaNorris Sellers. Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer revealed that Sellers won the starting position over Auburn transfer Robby Ashford. The season will kick off with a game against Old Dominion on Aug. 31 in Columbia, S.C. Beamer praised Sellers for his consistency, improvement, poise, and understanding of the team’s strategy. Sellers previously served as the backup to Spencer Rattler, who is now with the New Orleans Saints. Last season, Sellers completed four pass attempts for 86 yards and two touchdowns, along with rushing for 51 yards and a score. Beamer emphasized that Sellers will be the main quarterback but acknowledged Ashford’s progress and its positive impact on the team. South Carolina finished last season with a 5-7 record overall (3-5 Southeastern Conference) after winning three of its last four games. –Field Level Media
