Epic Systems Corp. is integrating artificial intelligence into its software at a rapid pace, with approximately 100 projects aimed at improving health care for both patients and doctors.
Future versions of MyChart, Epic’s patient portal, may offer features that allow patients to better manage their health and receive personalized reminders. The company is even testing a bot that could potentially replace some doctor’s visits through MyChart.
During its annual User Group Meeting in Wisconsin, Epic leaders discussed some of the new AI-powered features, attracting a crowd of 12,000 attendees at the Deep Space Auditorium. An additional 32,000 people, including Epic employees and health care professionals worldwide, tuned in to CEO Judy Faulkner’s address to learn about the latest developments in MyChart and clinic-facing programs.

In the future, MyChart is expected to transform how patients interact with the platform. Instead of occasional check-ins and invoice payments, Epic envisions patients using MyChart as a comprehensive health management tool.
