Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham didn’t hold back when speaking at the Democratic National Convention about her former boss Donald Trump.
“He has no empathy, no morals, and no fidelity to the truth,” she told the crowd as she tried to reveal what it’s like to be a close adviser to Trump.
Grisham, a Republican, spoke with Scripps News after her speech at the United Center in Chicago.
“I think it’s crucial for people to understand who he truly is,” Grisham said, expressing her hope that her insights into Trump will influence independents and Republicans.

If Trump is re-elected, Grisham expressed concerns that he would seek to consolidate power and undermine the checks and balances in the federal government.
“I believe he’s attempting to become an elected king,” she said.
This isn’t the first time Grisham has criticized Trump. Following her resignation from the White House after the events on Jan. 6, 2021, she penned a book detailing her experiences.
In “I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw at the Trump White House,” Grisham portrays Trump as unpredictable and impulsive.

The book was a bestseller in The New York Times but also attracted criticism from the right, who saw her as disloyal to the former president.
Grisham revealed to Scripps News that she has received death threats from Trump supporters and anticipates more backlash for speaking out ahead of the 2024 election.
“That’s to be expected,” Grisham remarked.
