HELENA — One Helena small business is prioritizing the health of both the environment and the consumer with its products.
Regenerative agriculture, as defined by the Natural Resources Defense Council, aims to restore soil and ecosystem health, address inequity, and leave a better environment for future generations.
“I didn’t initially plan to start a small business. It just happened,” said Molly Moore.
Upon returning to Helena in 2020, Molly and Jon started to introduce animals to their property. Within the past year, they fully committed to launching Hoof&Paw Farm.
Hoof&Paw offers various goat and sheep products all made with a focus on regenerative agriculture.
From milk and cheese to wool and soap, every product is sustainably produced.
“The goal is for everything sheep-related to be eco-friendly and reusable, minimizing harm to the environment,” said Jon.
The couple manages the business independently and only receives help for shearing.
The fleece obtained from shearing is utilized for various products, from raw sales to mulch and dryer balls to yarn spinning.
Molly added, “Customers appreciate knowing the name of the sheep the wool came from, such as ‘Odin’ or ‘Hogan’.”
The Moores have shipped wool not just within the US but also internationally to places like the Netherlands.
Their products can be purchased on Etsy, social media, and their website.
Customers can arrange a pick-up for cheese and milk items directly from Hoof&Paw.
