Joe Dooling says he is not afraid to question authority and the status quo.
The 49-year-old farmer-rancher-businessman is running for a six-year term on the Lewis and Clark County Commission with a mantra of cutting government spending, doing more with less and taking steps to make the county an affordable place for seniors and young families to live.
He faces incumbent Andy Hunthausen, who is seeking a fourth term.
Dooling said one reason he ran for the Nov. 5 election was the recent increase in property taxes and what it had done to his mother, who lives in Helena and was hit with an $8,000 property tax bill.
He said this community is becoming unaffordable for many.
