Charlie Woods, the son of golf legend Tiger Woods, has secured a spot in his first-ever USGA event next month by winning his qualifier for the U.S. Junior Amateur — a tournament his father dominated three times in a row.
At just 15 years old, Charlie shot a 1-under 71 on Wednesday at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Florida. This impressive performance placed him among the top four players out of 86, earning him a ticket to the U.S. Junior Amateur scheduled for July 22-28 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. During the competition, Charlie will join 264 other golfers in the qualifying rounds of stroke play with hopes of advancing to the final round of match-play as one of the top 64 players.

This tournament holds special significance for Charlie as his father clinched victory in the same event in 1991, 1992, and 1993, becoming the only golfer to achieve this feat. Tiger Woods’ success at the U.S. Junior Amateur marked the beginning of a remarkable career, leading to victories in the U.S. Amateur championships in 1994, 1995, and 1996.
As reported by The Associated Press, Charlie expressed his admiration for the USGA after his stellar performance, stating that winning USGA championships and ultimately the U.S. Open are his aspirations.
