Missouri’s attorney general filed a lawsuit against the state of New York on Thursday, alleging wrongful prosecution and election interference in former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial.
A New York jury convicted Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records in May, making him the first American president to be found guilty of a crime. After the trial, Trump claimed it was rigged by a corrupt judge, sparking backlash from his Republican allies.
Andrew Bailey, Missouri’s Republican attorney general, announced the lawsuit, calling the case against Trump an attack on the democratic process. He stated, “We have to fight back against a rogue prosecutor who is trying to interfere with a presidential candidate’s campaign.”
🚨BREAKING: I will be filing suit against the State of New York for their direct attack on our democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump.
It’s time to restore the rule of law.

In an interview with Fox News, Bailey accused Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Assistant District Attorney Matthew Colangelo of election interference in the case against Trump. However, there is no evidence to support this claim.
Threats against Bragg, his family, and staff have surfaced since April, leading to concerns about their safety. In response, Bragg’s office requested to lift Trump’s gag order to allow him to defend himself on the campaign trail.
