BILLINGS, Mont. – State Republican lawmakers met in Billings this Friday for the annual Montana Republican Party Platform convention.
The three-day event took place over at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center and concluded on June 29.
Organizers came together to focus their platform and update it to match the specific policies and principals of the Montana Republican Party.
The official platform is divided into 15 planks which covered specific principles that govern the Montana GOP. Those include things like agriculture, American Indian Affairs, crime, education and immigration.
The existing platform can be viewed on the party website at mtgop.org. A new platform is finalized at the end of every other MT GOP convention and remains in effect for the following 2 years.
Among those in attendance, Governor Gianforte and Senate candidate, Tim Sheehy.
The State Republican Party hosts a convention every year but only revisits the party platform on the even years. On the odd years, they come together to elect delegate officers.
