Area Fourth of July celebrations
Butte Fourth of July parade starts at 10 a.m. at the Butte Civic Center and proceeds south on Harrison Avenue. This year’s grand marshals are Sgt. Steve Honer of the Butte-Silver Bow Police Department, along with his K-9 partner of 10 years, Blue, who was recently retired.
Anaconda — The Main Street parade, sponsored by Anaconda American Legion Post 21, starts at 2 p.m. Entrants should line up behind the Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Courthouse. Before the 25th annual fireworks at dusk, “Red, White & Bruise” boxing will start at 7 p.m. at the Washoe Park baseball field, 816 W. Pennsylvania Ave. Tickets are $20 at the door.
Boulder — The “short and sweet” parade starts at noon on Main Street. At dusk, the Boulder Kiwanis/Bull Mountain Volunteer Fire Dept. will host the fireworks display.

Deer Lodge — The Old Montana Prison at 1106 Main St. will have a potluck dinner, along with a fireworks display. Gates will open at 6 p.m., with the potluck dinner starting at 7. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, along with a dish, plates and utensils. The evening concludes after the fireworks.
Dillon — The Dillon Jaycees will be setting off their fireworks shortly after dusk from the ball fields. The public can view the display from Ray Lynch Park.
Ennis — The two-day celebration includes the Ennis NRA Rodeo, which starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. The NRA-sanctioned rodeo will feature the top cowboys and cowgirls from the Northwest. General admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children. The annual Ennis Fourth of July parade starts at 10 a.m. Thursday, on Main Street, followed by a barbecue hosted by the Ennis Lions Club at Peter T’s Park. In addition, at noon, there will be the Veterans’ Memorial Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park.
Georgetown Lake — The annual Fourth of July parade starts at 11 a.m. The parade starts just below St. Timothy’s Chapel and ends at 7 Gables. On Friday night, there will be the annual “Light It Up 4th of July” boat parade. Boaters are to meet at 9:15 p.m. at the Piney Point boat launch. Parade starts at 9:30, with boats heading to Badger Bay, Comer’s Point, Jericho Bay, Denton’s Point, 7 Gables, Red Bridge Boat Club and Philipsburg Bay, concluding at Rainbow Bay.
Virginia City — The professional fireworks display begins at dusk from the Boot Hill area. All donations benefit the Virginia City Rural Fire Department Auxiliary.
Wisdom — It’s an all-day event as the Big Hole Valley 4th of July Celebration in Wisdom begins at 6:15 a.m. with the raising of the American flag. Speakers will be Kyle Bushman and John Costa. A free pancake breakfast follows at Fetty’s Restaurant. The Main Street parade starts at 10 a.m., with a fundraising potluck barbecue lunch to follow near the Masonic Temple. At 8 p.m., people are encouraged to head over to the Wisdom Airport for even more activities. Country music will be featured, along with a softball game and a bonfire. The day concludes with fireworks at about 10:30 p.m.
