The Main Stope Gallery will hold a special opening on Friday, July 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. at its uptown Butte location of 14 S. Dakota. “Reponses to Environment” will showcase the work of Laurel Egan and Ray Campeau.
Campeau has 10 never-released framed watercolors that portray the soft and warm colors of spring so familiar to those of us who live in the Rockies. Ray is the first member of The Main Stope Gallery. Some of the paintings he has in this show date back to 1994.
Egan has temporarily parted ways with her traditional focus on oil and acrylic painting. She has spent the last several months working on her own unique brand of sculpture. Her work spans the abstract and more literal as she works in fabrics, glue and modeling paste.
“My main focus was just to have fun,” says Egan about her latest venture into a new medium.
