A fundraiser for Stormy Daniels has raised over $1 million to assist her in relocating to a safer home and covering legal expenses as she navigates the aftermath of testifying against former President Donald Trump.
Daniels, also known as Stephanie Clifford, was the key witness in Trump’s hush money trial, where a jury eventually convicted him on 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records. Prosecutors alleged that Trump paid Daniels, an adult film actress, $130,000 prior to the 2016 election to cover up a brief affair they had a decade earlier, falsely recording the payment as legal expenses.
Following the verdict in May, Daniels has been dealing with “numerous death threats” and accumulating legal costs to counter the ongoing legal actions by the former president, as mentioned by Dwayne Crawford, Daniels’ friend and former manager who initiated the GoFundMe.
According to the GoFundMe campaign titled “I Stand with Stormy Daniels #WeAreAllStormy,” Crawford highlighted the urgent need for Daniels to relocate due to safety concerns arising from her leaked address, resulting in alleged incidents where protesters shot at her horses and constant presence of paparazzi. He also cited a court demand for her child’s personal details, forcing Daniels into a difficult situation.
“Stormy requires support to relocate her family to a secure place and handle the increasing legal fees to prevent Trump from prevailing merely due to his seemingly endless financial resources,” Crawford wrote on the GoFundMe page.
In an interview with MSNBC, Daniels emphasized facing harassment and threats towards her daughter and other family members following her testimony, also mentioning her inability to afford the $500,000 in legal fees.
Providing an update on the GoFundMe, Daniels expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received, with donations surpassing $1 million from nearly 19,500 contributors. She acknowledged the contributions from ordinary individuals and pledged to utilize the excess funds for her safe relocation.
Expressing her profound gratitude, Daniels stated, “Thank you will never be enough but…THANK YOU!”
