Michigan has successfully recruited top talent for the year 2025 by securing the commitment of defensive back Ivan Taylor. Taylor, who was previously committed to Notre Dame, made the announcement on Monday that he will be joining the Wolverines instead. According to ESPN, Taylor is ranked as the 41st-best recruit in his class and the fifth-best cornerback. He is also ranked 54th overall in 247Sports’ composite rankings, making him the sixth-best safety. Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds, Taylor currently plays for West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida. With this commitment, Taylor becomes the top recruit for new Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, who recently took over from Jim Harbaugh. The Wolverines, who are the defending national champions, now boast the 15th-best recruiting class for the 2025 season, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. Taylor had initially chosen Notre Dame over Michigan, Southern California, Florida State, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and other schools last winter. However, after official visits to Alabama and Michigan in June, he was drawn to Coach Moore and his coaching staff, including defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and secondary coach LaMar Morgan. Taylor expressed his admiration for the coaching staff, stating that he had great conversations with them about football strategies and his potential position on the team. He revealed that they plan for him to play the free safety position, which differs from other colleges that had considered him for the nickel position. Taylor expressed his excitement about joining the Wolverines and playing under the guidance of Coach Moore and his staff. –Field Level Media
