In the first presidential debate of the general election, the American people witnessed with their own eyes what many have already known for months, if not years: Joe Biden is not up to the job of being president. Setting aside Biden’s record of failure — open borders, rising crime, and soaring prices— the president struggled to string together a single sentence, much less a vision for the nation’s future.
Everyone was watching this debate: Foreign leaders, our adversaries, members of the media, and millions of American voters. An overwhelming majority of the electorate has reached the obvious conclusion that President Biden does not have the mental capacity to continue leading the country, with one glaring exception: Montana’s own Jon Tester.

In August of last year, Jon Tester joined the bandwagon of Democrats dismissing concerns over the president’s age. In an interview with NBC, Tester told voters he believes Joe Biden is “absolutely 100% with it.” Really?
A quick glance around the country makes it obvious to most Americans that Biden’s presidency has been an abject failure. Hardworking families are struggling to make ends meet. Our southern border is overrun. Crime is skyrocketing in communities large and small.
Our standing on the world stage has been weakened by a lack of leadership exemplified by the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, where we lost 13 American heroes (who President Biden completely forgot during the debate).
It is hard to imagine many Americans would look at this record of failure coupled with the president’s calamitous performance in his debate with former President Donald Trump and come away under the impression Joe Biden is “100% with it,” so why is that what Sen. Tester thinks?
Perhaps it is because, in many ways, Jon Tester’s defense of Joe Biden’s presidency is also a defense of his own record representing Montanans in the U.S. Senate.
Jon Tester has been the deciding vote for Joe Biden’s most significant first term accomplishments. He voted for the so-called Inflation Reduction Act that did nothing to halt inflation, instead ramming through radical Green New Deal environmental policy.
Tester killed an amendment that would have provided funding for a border wall and went on to claim President Biden has “helped” secure the border.
And Tester has voted for every last one of Joe Biden’s 200 judicial nominees, doing his part to ensure the president’s legacy outlives the disastrous results of his first term.
Whenever Joe Biden has needed Jon Tester, the senator has been there. Even now, as the Democratic establishment circles the wagons around the president while voters, activists, and journalists raise alarms, Sen. Tester is keeping quiet.
Here’s the problem he faces: Everyone saw the presidential debate, and millions of Americans have been reaping the disastrous consequences of Biden and Tester’s agenda for years. The failures of the Biden Administration and the president’s obvious health challenges cannot be ignored into nonexistence.
We all know that President Biden is not “100% with it,” but maybe it’s time we realize that, when it comes to representing the people of Montana, Sen. Tester isn’t either.
