Novak Djokovic uses Wimbledon crowd’s ‘disrespect’ as fuel as he moves closer to another title
LONDON (AP) — Novak Djokovic is just one example of a superstar athlete who manages to find motivation wherever possible. Serena Williams, Michael Jordan and Tom Brady are others who come to mind. With Djokovic, it often derives from crowds who are against him. Or at least his perception that they are. At Wimbledon, the 24-time Grand Slam champion was certain that people in the Centre Court stands Monday night were drawing out the pronunciation of his opponent’s last name to sound like they were booing. Djokovic took that personally. He objected to the “disrespect” he thought was being directed his way.
Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet are officially divorced
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet are officially divorced. A Los Angeles County judge’s dissolution of the actors’ nearly seven-year marriage took effect Tuesday. Bonet, a star of the “Cosby Show,” filed a petition to end her marriage to the “Aquaman” star in January, but the two had already been separated for more than three years. The divorce was quick and amicable. Neither will get financial support from the other, and they’ll have joint custody of their teenage son and daughter. It was the first marriage for Momoa and the second for Bonet. She was previously married to rocker Lenny Kravitz.
Brett Favre is asking an appeals court to reinstate his defamation lawsuit against Shannon Sharpe
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Lawyers for retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre are asking a federal appeals court to revive a defamation lawsuit Favre filed against a fellow Pro Football Hall of Fame member — former tight end Shannon Sharpe. The case stems from a Mississippi state’s auditor’s finding that Favre improperly received $1.1 million in speaking fees from an organization that spent money from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. Favre repaid the money and hasn’t been criminally charged. His suit over remarks Sharpe made on a sports TV show in 2022 was rejected by a federal district judge. Arguments are set for Tuesday at the appeals court in New Orleans.

From ‘Red October’ to ’30 Rock,’ a look at Alec Baldwin’s career on eve of ‘Rust’ shooting trial
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Alec Baldwin is going on trial for involuntary manslaughter after nearly 35 years in the public eye. The actor began his career in soap operas before moving on to movies with “Beetlejuice” and other roles in 1988. He briefly become a heroic leading man in 1990’s “The Hunt for Red October.” But he’d find more success in supporting roles, including 2006’s “The Departed.” He has become just as famous for playing himself on talk shows, game shows, and appearances on “Saturday Night Live.” He’s also had his share of ugly public moments, none worse than the 2021 shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the film “Rust.”
