During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed that “time is running short” for President Joe Biden to determine whether he will continue in the presidential race.
Despite President Biden’s assurances that he plans to stay in the race and is not considering dropping out, Pelosi refrained from urging him to exit the race, a move that some of her Democratic colleagues in the House have made.
Pelosi stated on MSNBC, “As long as the president – it’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We are all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short.”
Addressing whether Biden has the backing of most Democrats, Pelosi remarked, “I think the overwhelming support of the caucus, it’s not for me to say as I am not the head of the caucus anymore. But he’s beloved, he’s respected and people want him to make that decision.”
“I want him to do whatever he decides to do and that’s the way it is. Whatever way he decides, we go with,” Pelosi added.

Pelosi previously stirred attention for remarks she made following President Biden’s performance at a recent presidential debate that raised concerns about his mental acuity and ability to serve in his 80s.
In an interview with ABC News last Friday, President Biden reasserted that he has no intentions of withdrawing from the race, emphasizing, “If the Lord Almighty came around and said, ‘Joe, get out of the race,’ I’ll get out of the race, but Lord Almighty is not coming down.”
Democratic caucus chair Pete Aguilar mentioned on Tuesday that Democrats are dedicated to defeating former President Donald Trump, stating, “Right now President Biden is the nominee, and we support the Democratic nominee.”
Currently, six House Democrats have urged President Biden to step aside, with Rep. Mikie Sherrill expressing her desire for a new Democratic nominee.
