A photography school in Missoula, popular among students from around the world, has announced its closure.
Rocky Mountain School of Photography, owned by Neil and Jeanne Chaput de Saintonge and their family, is now located at 301 Expressway and has had offices downtown.
“After 35 years of operating RMSP, we have decided to close our school,” the company shared on social media. “We have faced many challenges over the years, but with a dedicated staff, instructors, and lots of hard work, we have managed to adapt to changes in technology and education.”
However, this time is different as mentioned in the post.
“The registration numbers for our in-person programs are no longer sustainable,” the post said. “We want to thank everyone who has been a part of RMSP, whether for decades or recently. It has been a privilege to educate you and we wish all our students success in their endeavors.”
There was no response from the company offices on Thursday.
The school will host a sale of photo gear, lighting equipment, furniture, and more on July 27 from noon to 5 p.m.
The students from the school were often seen capturing events in downtown Missoula, particularly in the summer.
