GREAT FALLS — The search for Great Falls teen Kendall Danna has concluded after her body was discovered in Lake Elwell on Thursday, July 11.
The 17-year-old Danna was one of four individuals who were paddleboarding at the lake on Saturday, June 15.
During their crossing of the lake, inclement weather caused waves up to five feet high and winds gusting to 40 miles per hour.
While three of the individuals reached safety or were rescued by first-responders, Kendall remained missing.
On Tuesday, July 9, a search team used underwater sonar and captured a photo image of an object that appeared to be potential human remains.
Toole County Sheriff Tyler Padilla announced on Wednesday that the team deployed an underwater remote-operated vehicle, and divers from Flathead County attempted to locate the object at a depth of approximately 70 feet.
On Thursday, it was confirmed that the object was Kendall’s body, and her remains have been retrieved.
Cory Reeves, the mayor of Great Falls, has been involved in the search efforts and posted on Facebook: “Mission Accomplished. RIP, Kendall.”
