The Billings Scarlets lost their first game but came back strong in the second in a home doubleheader against Missoula on Saturday at Dehler Park, losing 9-4 before winning 10-0 via mercy-rule.
A seven-run second inning by Missoula did the Scarlets in in the first game of the twin bill, but Billings rebounded for an impressive one-hitter in the second game of the afternoon to take care of the visitors in just five innings.
The Scarlets started out their first game strong, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Missoula’s game-breaking surge in the second put it ahead for good. A two-run third by the Scarlets was then negated by Missoula runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
Kyler Northrop had a pair of RBIs for the Scarlets while Nathan McDonald added another, though Billings as a whole in the first game only tallied five hits.

Meanwhile in Game 2, the Scarlets were absolutely dominant, knocking 11 hits and ending the game early after a seven-run fourth inning and subsequent shutdown of Missoula in the fifth by Colter Wilson, who struck out eight in a complete-game, one-hit gem.
Hunter Doyle, Mason Brosseau and Jakob Wilcox each had two RBIs apiece for the Scarlets in the game to lead the way for the hosts on offense.
Billings and Missoula will run it back with a Sunday feature at Pirtz Field at 1 p.m.
