MONTANA – Temperatures soared into the 90s today across Montana, except in areas near or under thunderstorms.
A heat advisory is in effect this evening for south central and southeast Montana, as well as northern Wyoming, including Billings, Miles City, and Sheridan.
Showers and thunderstorms were scattered across southwest and northeast Montana.
Winds were blowing at speeds ranging from 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph in some areas.
The heat wave is expected to ease slightly early in the week before high pressure builds back up across the western U.S.
Temperatures will remain hot early in the week and become very hot later in the week and into the weekend. There is little rain expected, except this evening under the stronger isolated storms in northeast Montana.
Overnight lows will be in the 50s and 60s, with highs tomorrow in the upper 80s and 90s. Highs will climb into the 90s and 100s by the end of the week.
