Former first lady Melania Trump urged Americans to “rise above the hate” and expressed gratitude for the support following the attempt on her husband’s life, former President Donald Trump.
In a statement shared on X on Sunday, she stated, “As I witnessed that violent attack on my husband, Donald, I realized that our lives, including Barron’s, were on the brink of a devastating change. I am grateful to the courageous Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers who put their lives at risk to protect my husband.”
The former president mentioned that he was hit in the right ear by a bullet during a shooting incident at his rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday but assured that he is doing well after receiving medical attention.
“At this moment, it is crucial that we stand united and demonstrate our true American character by staying strong and resolute, refusing to let evil prevail,” he declared on Truth Social on Sunday.

The shooter was fatally shot by Secret Service agents shortly after opening fire from an elevated position outside the rally venue, resulting in the death of one rally attendee and severe injuries to two more.
Melania described the suspected shooter as a “monster” who viewed her husband as a political entity rather than a human being.
“We are all humans, inherently inclined to help one another. Politics in America is just one avenue through which we can uplift our communities. Love, compassion, kindness, and empathy are essentials,” she emphasized in her statement. “Let us remember that beyond the divisions of left and right, red and blue, we all come from families driven by the desire to strive for a better life together, while we are here, in this world.”
