Taleen Marie has been caught in the midst of drama on The Real Housewives of Dubai. She joined Season 2 as a close friend of Caroline Brooks, but their relationship quickly turned sour. Marie felt that Brooks had instigated much of the group’s turmoil through miscommunication. Things escalated when Marie started bonding with Caroline Stanbury, with whom Brooks had unresolved issues, creating a rivalry between the two Carolines. Here, Marie reflects on the unfolding drama and hints at more to come.
How do you feel watching the season play out?
Taleen Marie: It’s surreal to watch because it feels like reliving everything. All the drama is still very relevant. So far, I’m happy with what I’ve seen. I’ve stayed true to myself, and I hope that comes across. I know there will be cringe-worthy moments ahead, but we’re not there yet.
What was it like entering an established group of women?
As the only new cast member, coming in with Caroline Brooks, who had existing issues with the others, was challenging. I wanted to form my own opinions about each person without being influenced by others. It was tough navigating different personalities, but I feel I integrated well with everyone. I’m not confrontational, surprisingly, and I prefer getting along with people.
Were you prepared to choose sides when Brooks presented you to the group?
I didn’t even realize there were sides initially. It was unexpected how my actions were misinterpreted, especially after the incident at the Beyoncé concert. The situation with Brooks and Stanbury felt like a deeper issue. I didn’t see it as taking sides; I formed bonds organically. Brooks wanted me to pick a side, but I was just myself.
Do you have any regrets about discussing Sergio’s feelings with Stanbury at Chanel Ayan’s dinner?
I don’t regret it. I felt it was better to address the issue privately rather than escalate it at the table. I was misunderstood, but my intention was genuine. I didn’t appreciate being called names, but I understand the confusion created.
Some viewers felt you weren’t supportive of Brooks when you didn’t attend her son’s party and had Stanbury over instead. How do you respond to that?
After our family dog passed away, I was emotionally overwhelmed during filming. Venting to my family wasn’t intended as talking badly about Brooks. I was hurt by her lack of personal communication, especially when I needed support.
Brooks claimed she reached out through your sister, but you were unaware. What are your thoughts on that?
Even if she reached out indirectly, I felt her absence during a difficult time. The upcoming episodes will reveal more, and the truth will surface. I appreciate the other girls’ support during that period.
What can you tell us about the upcoming trip to Bali?
The Bali trip is intense, with a significant revelation and plenty of excitement. It was a memorable experience, and the season takes an unexpected turn. We haven’t even scratched the surface yet.
Do you think Stanbury and Sergio’s relationship will last?
I believe they have a strong bond and genuinely care for each other. Despite unconventional aspects, I’ve seen their love off-camera, and I think they have a bright future together.
You tried to set up Sara [Al Madani], but it didn’t work out. What are your thoughts on her relationship with Akin?
Sara is a complex woman, and Akin needs to be secure to be with someone like her. He’s definitely eye candy, and their long-distance dynamic adds an intriguing element to their story.
Your struggle between having another child and pursuing a career is highlighted on the show. What is it like to share that personal dilemma?
We wanted to be authentic when we joined the show, so revealing our challenges was important to us. It’s a real issue in our household, and I’m trying to balance family, career, and personal growth. It’s relatable to many women, and we’ll see how it unfolds.
Are you ready for the reunion? Have you picked out your dress?
I had a dress, but the color scheme changed, so I’m starting over with a new designer in Los Angeles. Mentally preparing for the reunion is daunting, but I plan to stay true to myself. I’m open to another season, but let’s see how the reunion goes first.
