Former President Donald Trump has made his choice for vice president in the upcoming election, and while his Republican peers express their support, Democrats are not holding back their criticism.
Trump revealed Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his VP pick on Truth Social Monday, coinciding with the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
“J.D. has had a successful business career in Technology and Finance, and during the Campaign, will be focused on the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and beyond,” Trump wrote.

The Biden-Harris campaign criticized Trump’s choice, claiming it was for personal gain rather than the American people’s benefit.
The statement detailed Vance’s supposed adherence to Trump’s Project 2025 agenda, including supporting a nationwide abortion ban, opposing the Affordable Care Act, and cutting taxes for the wealthy, leading to increased prices for others.
Project 2025, initiated by the Heritage Foundation, is viewed as a blueprint for a future conservative administration, which the group believes will be led by Trump.
President Biden and the Democratic Party warned about the consequences of Project 2025, claiming it would restrict reproductive rights, consolidate power in the Oval Office, diminish checks and balances, and more.
Trump denied knowledge of Project 2025, although he endorsed it at a Heritage Foundation event in April 2022, hinting at plans for his administration.
Vance was hailed as a key figure in the conservative movement by Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts.
The Democratic Party criticized Vance’s alignment with Project 2025, labeling him an “ultra-MAGA extremist.”

President Biden’s social media account highlighted Vance’s connections to Project 2025, linking him to positions against marriage equality, comparing abortion to slavery, and alleged affiliations with Putin and Russia.
Another post on Biden’s account urged supporters to resist tax hikes on middle-class families proposed by Trump and Vance.
The Biden-Harris campaign expressed concerns about Trump and Vance’s agenda, contrasting it with their vision of uniting the country and lowering costs.
The Republican Party commended Trump’s choice, with figures like Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Doug Burgum endorsing Vance.
JD Vance is a fantastic choice. Americans will soon see this is an incredibly intelligent and talented man who is completely committed to making America great again.

House Speaker Mike Johnson and former Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also praised Vance’s selection.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine expressed confidence in Vance’s ability to bring a fresh perspective to the campaign.
