ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Corvallis’ Cash Trexler carried the Montana flag Monday morning at the National High School Rodeo Finals, finishing fourth in tie-down roping at the Sweetwater Events Complex.
Trexler had a time of 10.24, less than a half-second behind first-place Cross Fulford of Moore Haven, Florida. Weston Milner of Payson, Utah, was second in 9.87 and Colton Suther of Palo Cedro, California, was third at 9.9.
Trexler was the No. 2 qualifier in the event from Montana behind Pacen Buller of Glendive.
Great Falls’ Wyatt Warneke also had a strong start, earning sixth place in bareback riding with a score of 58. Carson Hildre of Velva, North Dakota, won with 73.
Five other Montanans competed in the Monday morning session.

Columbus’ Samantha Gerlach was 12th in barrel racing in 18.094 seconds, Dillon’s Josie Robbins was 14th in goat tying with a time of 9.61 seconds, and Big Timber’s Mollie Mae Ruth was 16th in girls cutting with a 126.
JR Harrell of Toston had a no score in bull riding and Randon Boyce of Browning had a no score in saddle bronc.
The event was to continue with an evening session Monday starting at 7 p.m.
