Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Convention, delivered the concluding speech on the second day of the RNC, where she recounted the assassination attempt against Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
“Last Saturday served as a stark reminder that as Americans, we must remember that there is more that unites us than divides us. Despite our disagreements, we all share the common goal of making this country great,” she stated.
Lara Trump, who is the daughter-in-law of Donald Trump, was appointed as co-chair of the RNC alongside North Carolina GOP leader Michael Watley in March 2024. They took over from former RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, who was removed due to her strained relationship with Trump.
Since then, Lara Trump has led efforts to revolutionize fundraising for Trump’s campaign and forge a closer alliance between the GOP and the Trump campaign.
“My primary objective is to ensure that Donald Trump becomes the 47th president,” she shared with The Associated Press in May.

During the speech, she highlighted the accomplishments of the first Trump administration in areas such as border security, employment, energy security, and foreign policy.
“It’s undeniable that things were better during Donald Trump’s term in office,” she affirmed.
She anticipated that Trump’s opponents would depict a second Trump term as a scenario to avoid.
“You don’t need to imagine the possibilities; you only need to recall what it was like,” she stressed.
“Tonight, I stand before you not just as the co-chair of the RNC or the candidate’s daughter-in-law. Tonight, I come before you as a mother and a citizen of this nation,” she addressed the convention attendees. “For those who have never supported Donald Trump, I understand the narratives pushed by the media and his political adversaries. Trust me, I’ve seen and heard it all. However, I’ve also witnessed the truth. I am honored to know Donald Trump, advocate for his campaign, cast my vote for him, and raise his grandchildren. He will take the necessary steps to safeguard you, your family, and this country.”
