Paul Mescal is optimistic about the potential success of “Gladiator II” and “Wicked” mirroring the “Barbenheimer” phenomenon.
Both films are scheduled to be released on Nov. 22, and Mescal is hopeful that they can generate the same excitement that “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” did in July 2023.
Speaking to “Entertainment Tonight,” Mescal expressed his thoughts: “Wickdiator doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, does it? I would prefer the name Glicked if it can have a similar impact as ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer.’ It would be fantastic as the films are complete opposites, and that dynamic worked well before. So, hopefully, people will turn out to see both movies on the opening weekend.”
The Oscar nominee portrays the character of Lucius Verus in the sequel, a former heir to the Roman Empire who is enslaved, and talked about the challenges of getting in shape for the role without going overboard.
