MISSOULA — The Lolo National Forest is now experiencing “extreme” fire danger due to ongoing hot and dry weather.
During a period of “extreme” fire danger, all fires have the potential to rapidly grow and become very challenging to contain, posing significant risks for firefighters and lasting for extended periods of time, a warning on social media highlights.
While there are currently no restrictions in place in the Lolo National Forest, individuals are urged to exercise caution when engaging in recreational activities, particularly when using campfires.
Firefighters have already responded to 33 fires in the Lolo National Forest, with all but one of them being caused by humans.
