Shannen Doherty finalizes divorce hours before death
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Shannen Doherty finalized her split with husband, Kurt Iswarienko, just hours before her death at age 53. Doherty, the star of “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed,” died Saturday after years with breast cancer. In an agreement with Iswarienko filed Friday, Doherty got to keep the couple’s Malibu home, a Salvador Dali painting, several cars and all earnings from her acting. A Los Angeles County judge signed off on the agreement Monday, two days after her death. Doherty had no children, and it’s not yet clear to whom her assets will go. Doherty and Iswarienko married in 2011. She filed for divorce last year.
Lou Dobbs, conservative pundit and Fox Business host, dies at 78
NEW YORK (AP) — Lou Dobbs, the conservative political pundit and TV host who was a nightly presence on Fox Business Network for more than a decade, has died. He was 78.His death was announced Thursday in a post on his official X account, which called him a “fighter till the very end – fighting for what mattered to him the most, God, his family and the country.”

Over 3 million steam cleaners are under recall because they can spew hot water and cause burns
NEW YORK (AP) — Some 3.3 million steam cleaners are being recalled across North America due to a burn hazard that has resulted in consumers reporting more than 150 injuries. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, select models of Bissell-branded “Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaners” can spew hot water or steam while the products are in use or being heated. Bissell has received 183 reports of hot water or steam expelling from the products, including 157 reports of minor burns. Impacted consumers are urged to immediately stop using the now-recalled steam cleaners and contact Michigan-based Bissell for a refund or store credit.
After crash that killed 6 teens, NTSB chief says people underestimate marijuana’s impact on drivers
DETROIT (AP) — A horrific crash that killed six high school girls in Oklahoma two years ago has the head of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board urging parents to warn teenagers about the risk of driving after using marijuana. Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy made the appeal to parents Thursday as her agency released the final report on the March 22, 2022 collision between a tiny Chevrolet Spark hatchback and a gravel-hauling semi in the small town of Tishomingo. The board determined that the crash was caused by the 16-year-old driver slowing for an intersection, then accelerating through a stop sign because she likely was impaired by recent marijuana use and was distracted by having five teen passengers in the car.
Passenger train derails in India, killing at least 2 passengers and injuring 20 others
LUCKNOW, India (AP) — A passenger train has derailed in northern India, killing at least two passengers and injuring 20 others. A railroad official says the cause of the accident is being investigated. The train was on its way to a town in northeastern Assam state from the northern city of Chandigarh when it derailed near the town of Gonda, causing some coaches to overturn. Television images showed scores of passengers standing next to derailed coaches waiting for rescuers.
Caitlin Clark breaks WNBA’s game assists record with 19 in Fever’s loss to Wings
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Indiana rookie Caitlin Clark broke the WNBA record for assists in a game  Wednesday night, finishing with 19 in the Fever’s 101-93 loss to the Dallas Wings. The previous record was 18 by Courtney Vandersloot for Chicago on Aug. 31, 2020. Vandersloot also had 18 in a playoff game on Sept. 28, 2021. And the league’s previous record for assists by a rookie was 16, set by Ticha Penicheiro for Sacramento on July 29, 1998. The record-breaker for Clark came on a play where she set Kelsey Mitchell up for a 3-pointer with 2:22 remaining. That tied it at 93, but Dallas closed with an 8-0 run. Clark entered the game as the WNBA’s assists-per-game leader this season. She added 24 points on 10-for-19 shooting.
Tons of dead fish cover major river in Brazil after alleged dumping of industrial waste
TANQUA, Brazil (AP) — Several tons of fish have died along one of the main rivers in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state after an alleged illegal dumping of industrial waste from a sugar and ethanol plant. Prosecutors say a preliminary analysis estimates that between 10 and 20 tons of fish died on the Piracicaba River. The initial investigation points to an “irregular discharge of wastewater” from Estiva’s Sao Jose plant in the community of Rio das Pedras, and it reached a stream that flows into the Piracicaba River. Prosecutors have requested a full report into water conditions and are waiting for further technical information before taking the next steps regarding civil and criminal liability.

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Philadelphia Union midfielder Cavan Sullivan became the youngest player in Major League Soccer history when he made his debut against the New England Revolution. At 14 years and 293 days old, Sullivan is about two weeks younger than Freddy Adu was when he made his MLS debut in 2004. Sullivan is also younger than any player who has appeared in any of the four major North American sports since at least 1970. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that mark is held by Andrew Bynum. He debuted for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2005 at the age of 18 years, 6 days.

New Yorker Gracie Wiener launched the trend by monogramming one of the utilitarian bags with “Prada” as a joke, and launching an Instagram page showcasing creative phrases like “Schlepper” or “HOT MESS” or “cool mom.” The folks at L.L. Bean are both stunned and happy. A spokesperson says the totes are bringing new customers to the brand.
