HAMILTON — The ongoing hot and dry conditions have led the Ravalli County Commission to implement Stage II Fire Restrictions. These restrictions will be in effect starting on Friday, July 19 at 12:01 a.m.
Under the Stage II Fire Restrictions, the following activities are prohibited on private and county-managed lands:
- Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire or campfire
- Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or in an area at least three feet in diameter that is clear of flammable material
- Use of fireworks
- Operating motorized vehicles off designated roads and trails
Additionally, the following activities are prohibited from 1:00 pm to 1:00 am:
- Operating a chainsaw or other equipment powered by an internal combustion engine for felling, bucking, skidding, or firewood gathering
- Outdoor welding or operating a torch with an open flame
- Use of any explosive material
- A one-hour patrol is required in the work area following the cessation of activities identified in #1 – #3 above
