Renowned political commentator and television host Lou Dobbs has passed away.
A statement published on the X profile for Dobbs reads, “Lou fought until the very end – standing up for what he held dear, God, his family, and his country. Lou will be remembered as a patriot and a remarkable American.”
Former President Donald Trump was the first to announce Dobbs’ death.
“Lou was truly one-of-a-kind, and he had a deep love for our nation,” Trump stated on Truth Social. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to his beloved wife, Debi, and his family. He will be deeply missed!”
The 78-year-old Dobbs was a trailblazer in cable news. He started at CNN in 1980 and became the host of “Moneyline,” later renamed to “Lou Dobbs Tonight.”

Dobbs left CNN in 2009 following controversy over his public remarks on immigration and globalization, which were criticized as xenophobic.
He then joined Fox Business Network where he continued hosting “Lou Dobbs Tonight” until 2021.
Dobbs also hosted a radio show where he staunchly supported Trump, frequently defending the former president’s actions and spreading misinformation about the 2020 presidential election.
The cause of Dobbs’ death has not been disclosed.
